Community Engagement

Orquesta de Los Barrios

The Orquesta de los Barrios comprises 18 young musicians from 18 to 22 years of age, who were selected by Maestro Néstor Tedesco from over 1,600 alumni of the Orquestas Infanto Juveniles program of the City of Buenos Aires.  UWC helps to raise awareness and support for the orchestra by organizing benefit concerts by the young musicians and collecting donated instruments for them, as well as arranging sponsored scholarships for their musical training.

Scholar-Mentor Program

In celebrating its 90th Anniversary, the UWC proudly launches its Scholar-Mentor Program. The Program pairs UWC Mentors with UWC Member-Mentees or accepted UWC Scholar-Mentees to help these students and recent graduates explore their professional goals, cultures, social connections, and greater communities. We believe that this new program will advance our purpose, “friendship and learning through the universal mind.” Professional life, work/life balance, and mind/body/spirit are just a few of the themes that Scholars, Mentees, and Mentors will consider with UWC Consultants and Donors, who will share their special talents, skills, interests, and resources.

Reach one, teach one
